What we cover
Psilocybin law changes city by city and state by state, the research moves fast, and much of what's written online is either a sales page or a decade out of date. Norshroom tries to be the page you'd want open in another tab: what the law says right now, what the trials actually found, and what's known about staying safe.
We publish three kinds of pages:
- The legal map and state guides, re-checked against statutes and agency pages and dated every time they change.
- The research tracker and news, which summarize trial results, regulatory decisions and new laws from the primary documents.
- Reference guides on what psilocybin is, safety, species and history.
Every factual claim links to a numbered source at the bottom of the page. How we choose and check sources is set out in our editorial policy.
Ownership and disclosure
Norshroom is owned and run by the same people who run My Mushroom Dispensary, an online psilocybin retailer. Some of our guides link to its pages where they cover a topic in more practical detail, such as a strain profile or what's available in a particular city. We say so here because you should know it when you weigh anything we write.
That connection doesn't change how we report. Legal summaries describe the law as written, including the parts that cut against buying or selling psilocybin. Research summaries report what studies found, including null results. We don't publish reviews or rankings of retailers.
Who writes it
Articles are written and checked by a small editorial team and published under the byline Norshroom Editors. We aren't doctors or lawyers, and we don't present ourselves as either. Where a question needs one, we say so and point to the primary source or a qualified service.
What Norshroom isn't
Nothing here is medical or legal advice. We don't give dosing instructions; for practical harm-reduction information we point to established services such as DanceSafe and TripSit. Psilocybin remains a Schedule I controlled substance under federal law, and state reforms don't change that.
The domain's history
From 2001 until about 2020, norshroom.org was home to NorShroom, a Norwegian-language psilocybin community with an information archive and a busy forum. Its best-known page described Psilocybe semilanceata, the liberty cap, which Norwegians call spiss fleinsopp. The domain lapsed in 2025 and was registered by its current owners in October 2026.
We aren't connected to the original NorShroom team and don't claim their work as ours. We've kept a page on the liberty cap because so many old links still point to it, and because it's a good place to start for anyone curious about Europe's most common psilocybin mushroom.
